I went on this train ride this past weekend. The weather was great and the views are wonderful along the river. As someone else stated, the parlor car gives the best views on your return trip. The engine blocks your view out the back on your way up though, but you can see out the sides as you travel. You... More

We took our kids, 3 and 9 months, to ride the Polar Express. It was a lot of fun! The kids were all in their pjs, the had a chance to chat with Santa, drink hot chocolate served by dancing chefs. Each passenger got a silver reindeer bell from Santa, even the adults. Plus everyone got a Polar Express mug.... More

The scenery was just awesome with the fall colors at their peak. At the mid-point of the four hour trip, we stopped for about 25 minutes, and left the train, to get a close up look at the "High Falls of Cheat", with two observation points: one above the falls and one below the falls. The only thing that could... More

The lunch was a simple buffet with sandwiches. The seating was at tables and was a nice way to chat with other visitors. While I thought it would go to a higher elevation, it did "turn around" at a scenic waterfall.

We rode the Tygart Flyer on Oct 16, 2012. We were in the parlor car and that made it a very plesent trip. Spend the extra and take the parlor car! For the age of the equipment is is well cared for. The scenery is nice. The length and time is just right. Any longer may have become boring. It... More

Saw the fall colors in the 1st week of October. Very scenic trip up to a small water falls, then same route back. Recommend paying a little more for the better view in the parlor car. Lunch was sandwiches, cold slaw, cut fruit, chips, pie like you might get in an average grocery store - not gourmet.

The New Tygart Flyer train ride was on the boring side. I think that is because you are in enclosed cars. You can go to the open “window” between a couple of the cars which was much more enjoyable and good for picture taking. But this space is small and limited. It may have been better if I had been... My husband and I had been talking about doing this train trip for a few years. We're so glad we went and have actually began making arrangements for our next trip. We arrived a bit early and was there when the train pulled into the depot. The engine and the cars were beautifully restored. We paid the extra $10 to... More

These are restored World War 2 era trains. The car that I was in was acually used for troop transport in the war! The car was used to transport troops to bases. Yes, the cars are little rough riding and the accomadations are similar to what they were back in the day. But, they are true to history. I took... More
