It was great to see massive, historic trains from within as well as from the rails. Now I know where to take friends from out of town. More

Beverly Fitzpatrick, Executive Director, of the Official Virginia Museum of Transportation (www.vmt.org) has done a wonderful job (without any state funds) of making the experience of seeing huge steam engines an unforgettable one! This is a must stop for those on a Roanoke Train Vacation. See more on YouTube under "TrainManDan100". You will have to come! More

I was delighted and intrigued when viewing the old railroad cars, while my friend loved the mechanical information about the engines. The old cars out front were old acquaintances of ours, A great place to reminisce about the past! More

The transportation museum is a fun time for anyone visiting here. With the railroad history of Roanoke this is a fitting place to see what is a fantastic collection of old railroad locomotives that are stunning! Just those are worth the visit. But there is much more and visiting here is a must for families or anyone seeking a fun... More

While there were some displays on bus/public transportation (their aviation exhibit was still offline due to flooding), the museum's main focus was on the railroads.... More
