Viisted it in 2011. Very well presented, very interesting and in a great position, right in the Old Town.

It is located at the upper level of the old town of Naxos. There are signs that lead you there. The building itself has lots of history (build in the 17th century). So the facilities are not the one of a modern museum but the collection is unique and of major importance, including works of art and objects of every...

small museum but the collection is very good withimpresive collection of Geometric ceramic and Cycladic ceramics and figures.
Magical aliens! How else can you explain the martian like , prehistoric figurines that were found all over the island? Go to this museum and amaze yourself. Crazy, huh?
Beautifiully laid out, and masses to see, more outside, most downstairs. Just how the glass items survived all these years is mind boggling. Excellent displays, amazing gold wafer thin fragments used for decoration. Well worth the visit.
Amazing collection of Cycladic artifacts, I would not hesitate to compare it to Acropolis museum pieces in Athens. If displayed and described proberly, it would attract much bigger crowds. At the same time, the environment provides for much more intimate experience. Follow the signs, as we accidentally stumbled upon it while coming down the steps from Kastro and the Catholic...

The museum is laid out chronologically, which makes it easy to follow the history of the island through time. Perhaps an over abundance of pottery. Location is great and the large mosaic floor is amazing as are the sculptural pieces.
The archaeological Naxos museum has, maybe the richest collection of Cycladic Idols (early Bronze age) in the world and the most valuable because we know the origins of the artefacts. This collection should be exposed in a museum 10 times bigger and visitors from all the world should visit Naxos just to see the museum. In this museum, on the...

Exqusite collection of Cycladic figurines, to me much better than the ones in Athens, bathed in the cycladic light that they were born. But... a museum in terrible need of better displays and explanatory texts, as is the case with most Greek museums.
At first we were "oohing" and "aahing" over artificats that were 2000 years old; by the end of our visit that seemed positively new compared to older items. The museum occupied a very interesting and informative hour.
