I visit this park usually 1-2 times a week. It may take me at least 45 minutes to get there, but it's well worth the trip! My daughter and I both love hunting shark teeth, and on any given day, she'll walk away with at least 50 of them, while sadly mine can get to 30. However, if you watch... More

We took our bikes to explore the park and got a great workout! We pedaled easily until we decided to go down to the beach. We ignored the signs which read "Dismount, Steep Hills" and felt like daredevils going down the hill. We thought we'd die trying to get back up the hill and ended up walking our bikes most... More

Quiet serene park with cabins. There's a nice new bench near the visitor's center that overlooks the Potomac.

I first came to Westmoreland as a Girl Scout in the 1960's. After leaving Virginia and living in California I returned as a retiree. I suggested to my husband who'd never seen Westmoreland to take a drive from Spotslyvania for a day out, and he was amazed at the wonderful park. That was 3 years ago and we make a... More

Just visited the park for the first time. It was wonderfully quiet in late March. I had the beach to myself most mornings as I watched the sun rise over the sparkling Potomac. Saw ospreys, eagles, and gorgeous bluebirds. I stayed in an efficiency cabin, one of the historic CCA buildings. These are log cabins from the 1940s, now with... More

My son and I stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, it was exceptionally clean and well stocked. We were on a bile tour of the northern neck, and the location was a perfect setting and springboard to our bike treks. Lovely views of the Potomac ! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare dinners each night to enjoy by... More

Nice park plenty to do at Camp, cottages are nice, Potomac steps away. Fun to search the shallow water along beach for Shark teeth. Some pop up everyday as the sand shifts forward and backwards. Seafoot close by and some nice wineries plus other great historical sites with just a few miles.

Stopped in to see the cliffs. From the visitors center you have a great view of the Potomac but don't really see the famous cliffs. There is a trail down to the fossil beach, with cliff views. Its .69 of a mile, and not hard except for a steep hill at the end near the beach. Quite pleasant woodland walk.... More
