We stopped at Michie Tavern after our Monticello tour. The docent met us at the door and gave us a 5 minute background on the buildings, the operation and the times. She then took us inside and we took the self guided tour of the 4 rooms. There are a few outbuildings and then a series of shops in period...

My husband and I went for Sunday brunch at Michie Tavern but did not take the tour. The buffet at Michie Tavern is $17.50 each with 9% tax and we left a $5 tip which took the bill to about $45. This would have been OK if the food hadn't been so mediocre. You go through a very short buffet...

This was our first stop on a 2 week tour of Virginia and DC. Eating at Michie's ( pronounced "Mickey's) took us back in time. It was a perfect stop before heading up the hill to Monticello. We were under the impression that the meal would be served family style, so we were a bit surprised that it was more...

Considering how close it is to Monticello and being the only place to eat nearby its a good place to eat. The food is good and they dont try to rip you off like other tourist locations. Not a huge selection of food and if you dont like comfort food of the South you might want to go elsewhere. Definitely...

We stopped by here after being turned away at the Jefferson Plantation due to huge crowds.
This is a perfect look at a historical tavern / road-house from the late 1700s. You can wander from room to room and outside the building while listening to a recorded explanation of what you are seeing and just how it fits into history....

We had lunch at "The Ordinary", which is the buffet style restaurant inside the old Tavern. The cost was 2$ per adult if purchased when we paid for the meal. The tour includes the ballroom, bedrooms, kitchens, and even a privy. Take your time and see it all, the clothing shop has "Made in the USA" items, which are pretty...

Mrl Jefferson would love it also! It is a great place to enjoy conversation and review the surrounding attractions.
We love this place. The tour was fun and interesting. The buffet was delicious. All of the items from the chicken to the sides were so good. The dessert was yummy, we had the ice cream cookie. Love it!!! Great service too.
When visiting Monticello, stop by here for a great lunch. It is a little pricey, but the atmosphere is cool and visitors to Virginia love it. I usually only go there when someone is treating ($20 a meal), but you do get as much as you want....it's cafeteria style: with costumes.
