Decided to see what the 2 county parks on South Padre had to offer, so paid the $5 daily use fee at Isla Blanca Park, which also gives you access to Andy Bowie Park. It was a cool, blustery day, which did not help, but there are absolutely no facilities open at either park in winter, so why pay a... More

This so-called park was located next door to our hotel. It seemed to be nothing more than a beach access point, and those are all over the island. Having read it's description here on TA, it seems there might be more going on in the summer, but when we visited in early November, there was nothing.

This park is located across from the SPI convention center. When I was a child, I remember my father telling me that everything west of the convention center was the park. But about 10-20 years have gone by and with the real estate development on the northern part of South Padre Island, Andy Bowie Park has shrunk in size dramatically.... More

We stayed in our 35 foot fifth wheel right on the beach. The rv slots were full so we just pulled down the beach a ways. There was a man with a tractor moving the sand around and he leveled off an area for us to park our trailer. There are no hookups but we had our generator. We enjoyed... More

I could see the whole park from my hotel room. There was a parking and seating area and access to the beach. I don't know what else was there to see except for natural grass and weeds.

If you don't like crowded beaches, this north end of south padre island is the place to enter. You have to pay $10 as you enter but as you exit, you leave a bag of trash with them and they return $5 to you. This is an effort by them to keep the beach clean. We stayed also at Isla... More

From a distance, its a beautiful beach, and has so much potential. But once you park, and walk past the dunes, you will see South Padre Islands ubiquitous problem: Too much trash! Its sad. This place could be so great, except for the trash: diapers, bottles, plastic, cigarette butts, beer cans- everywhere! The local government and park services of SPI... More

Dirty spot on the beach that gets too much traffic. Wish that I hadn't paid to go. Lots of trailer parking. Overflowing garbage cans. Skip it.

All of the park entrances charge a fee, but if you enter first at Andy Bowie Park, you pay once & it is good for all of the parks on the island. There are showers, bathrooms, a pavilion, BBQ pit, RV's can park overnight.

A great way to start your day. The tranquility is very conducive to deep meditation and yoga.
