Located in a small strip mall outside of downtown Nashville, the 100 seat venue is unassuming in appearance but some of the most significant songwriters and artists have performed on this stage. « less

On a recent spur of the moment trip with a friend we visited the Bluebird Cafe. I called the office that afternoon (after unsuccessful attempts to make reservations online - unbeknownst to me - reservations usually are booked a week in advance within 10 minutes of the reservations becoming available) and was told that we needed to get there at... Due to the small size inside the cafe, we waited for 2 hours prior to opening to be sure that we would be among the people allowed entrance for the Monday songwriter's night. On the night we attended, there were 36 acts that submitted their names to perform & all got to perform one song. Most were good, a few... More

We went on Monday, which is open mike night. Apparently anyone with a guitar can show up on Monday afternoon and have their name put in a jar. When the show starts, they call out names and those present get to sing one song. (It was more than one until the TV show made this place so well-known.) Regardless, the... More

Beautiful venue. Terrific music and hosts. Very friendly staff. Tickets are a challenge (procured online) but totally worth it. 5 stars.

I'd heard that The Bluebird Cafe was one of a kind, and it proved to be a highlight of the trip. While many of the bars on Broadway offer terrific music, this venue is so intimate, every seat is a great one. Tonight my husband and I saw the Mike Henderson Band with Michael Rhodes and Kevin McKendree. Real bluesy... More

When we walked out of our first visit to the Bluebird Cafe ( and Nashville), my husband remarked that the two hours we spent with 5 songwriter/musician/singers (Jerry Vandiver, A.J. Masters, Misty Loggins, and Pete and Mackenzie Wazner) was on a par with the hallowed All for the Hall concert we had traveled to Nashville to see. Clearly they were... More

Managed to get a reservation on line for a 9 pm Tuesday show for our family of four - on the first night of the Tin Pan South songwriters festival, no less. We sat in a table literally on top of the 4 performers, who were four of Nashville's best known songwriters. We knew every song they performed, and the... More

As lovers of live music, this was on our 'absolutely must-do' list when we were planning our visit to Nashville. We booked tickets for a midweek 9.00pm session which you can do one week in advance via the Bluebird Cafe website. It is an intimate, no-frills cafe, about 10 mins from downtown Nashville (cost us about $12 by taxi). If... More

Song writers were singing their songs. It gave us new appreciation for those faceless talents behind the big stars. this is an unpretentious venue with homemade appetizers and sandwiches. It reminded me of the live musicians I used to see in the early 70's. Don't go if you like flash and popular country songs.

Wanted to visit the blue bird on songwriters night which is Sunday night. Doors opened at 5pm but we knew we needed to get there early. We did a drive by at 3:30 and found the first group of four people waiting in line so we decided to pull in and get in line. At first we felt stupid sitting... More

Thanks for your review of The Bluebird Cafe! I'm very glad you found the music on our Sunday Songwriters show to be entertaining and inspiring and I'm sorry that the Celtic band that performed in our Sunday Spotlight slot was not what you had in mind. While The Bluebird Cafe is located in Nashville, country music is only a part... More
