Course has a lot of potential, but is so poorly maintained that it is almost unplayable. Lots of bunkers, but no sand. Looked as if they had been washed out by heavy rain, and contained lots of hard dirt and rocks. Fairways are very narrow, and the rough is so high that you can easily lose a ball only inches... More

You will not forget your experience at Red Tail Mountain Golf Club. It is mountain golf at its best. I played there today for the fourth or fifth time in the past two years. “one word.... BEAUTIFUL.”

This is a breathtaking golf course, I enjoyed every minute! Takes awhile to get there from Gray, but worth the drive for the views alone. Well maintained, but they don't really have food or a restaurant. So bring your lunch or eat before you go.

Played here several times over the years. Its a nice track with challenging but fair holes. Looking forward to playing it again.

“Great mountain view”

This was my third time playing Red Tail, located about :30 from Boone, NC. Greens were fast, fairways nice with many challenging holes. Back nine very hilly, since I play all my golf in Florida. Loved the views. We talked to the former Appalachia State golf coach. Friendly staff that accommodates our group.

Red Tail offers a great challenge with elevated tee shots and multi level greens. Greens are great and so are the Mountain Views.

This was with previous owner and property was acquired out of bankruptcy in December 2012. May have been problems I dont know but the course description is not accurate. “Most Awesome Mountain Terrain for Golf”

Redtail is a hidden gem. The front 9 is relatively flat to rolling but the back 9 will take your breath away. Where else can you putt straight out and have it fall away 100 feet?? And the views! Anytime is great. They are closed in the middle of winter, however.
