The train ride was fun, the tunnel, the round house, the barn were both fun and good learning experiences. We love trains and this only added to our love.

By far our favorite stop in Chattanooga and the whole reason we took the trip to start with. We rode the Steam Engine on the Missonary Ridge trip. My one year old LOVED IT! Saturday we took the Chickamuga Turn trip and had our lunch in the dining car. My son had to sit on my lap but it was... More

My husband and I drove from Nashville at the end of our vacation to see the TVR. It did not disappoint. There are 3 different cars you can sit in on your ride, it goes through a tunnel on the way to the turn around. You get off the car and watch the steam engine turn around. Then they show... More

As a key stop for my family's eastern Tennessee vacation, I primarily chose Chattanooga for the train experience. Bad choice. I've been to other train museums and this one is about equal to others only because it has a working steam engine. The static car displays were disappointing and below average as far as railroad museums go. There were only... More

It was a very popular day to go on the day we went. There were only supposed to be two trains running that day but the first one sold out in about 10 minutes so they added more runs to make sure everyone got a chance to ride. The narration is really good. You will learn about local history as... More

The 3.5 mile round trip starts fom the historic East Ridge station, runs through an 850 ft long "U" shaped tunnel and stops at the East Chattanooga locomotive repair shop where you can see a turntable in action and watch as several steam locos are being rebuilt. The return to the East Ridge station is over the same tracks.
