We took this tour while spending a day in Deadwood. There is not much for kids to do in town, so this was a great experience for the entire family. The mine is not very large so the tour was relatively short - perfect if you have small children who tire of excessive walking. They have tours that leave pretty... More

Difficult parking but well worth the effort and the slight expense. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable about mining and the Broken Boot Gold Mine history. Our only statement, if you are concerned about tight dark spaces, this isn't the place for you.

This location is very reasonable and starts with a nice tour of the mine. At the end the kids were able to pan for gold. Both of them found some flakes and were super excited. I'm sure we would come back again if ever in the area.

This was a fun little stop during our stay in Deadwood. Deadwood is mainly a gambling town, and I see lots of people commenting on how there is nothing to do with kids. We were a little worried about spending one night of our cross country trip here because we didn't want our boys (7&12) to get bored. We all... More

The walk was easy and very interesting. Our tour guide was very enthusiastic and helped our daughter with the gold panning. Needless to say, our 10 year old was thrilled with her little bottle of gold flakes! The bathrooms looked fairly new and were clean.

We visit many states, and our goal is to get a taste of the history of the area. We found the Broken Boot Gold Mine tour to be interesting and informative. The guides take you a few hundred feet into the mine and explain how gold used to be mined, and about the minerals in the rocks that we were... More

Not really a whole lot to see, but the young lady who was our tour guide did a great job. I think I was hoping for more history, longer tour, etc.

You take a guided tour of this mine. It is a nice, level walk. The tour guide shared a lot of information with us on how the mine worked, and the daily working life of the miners. The mine is not too big, so the tour is not long at all. You have the option to pan for gold, but... More

I wanted to visit a gold mine while in the Black Hills. Our guide was knowledgable, and able to answer the questions. There were steps walking up to the entrance, but the walk through the mine brought us back downhill which was good as my husband has trouble walking, and uses two canes. We also visited the Black Hills Museum... More

Information given on the tour was interesting and worthwhile. My 11 year-old nephew loved the tour as well as the panning for gold (and found a few grains!).
