At one time the Salem Public Library was rated one of the busiest library's in the country for cities the size of Salem. It has a great selection and is part of the Chemeketa Library system which allows you to order books from other libraries.

I love the library for the variety of books, the help you can get in finding one, the knowledge of the librarians, and their children's programs.

LIbraries have always been a comforting place for me. And being from a smaller town, I enjoy going to the Salem Library as well.

Salem is a member of a regional library system. They will retrieve titles from other libraries, and have them waiting for you to pick up. The library has a children's discovery area where kids can be loud and not disturb other patrons. My kids 8 and 6 still enjoy it, although the 8 year is nearing the end of it's usefulness.
