If you want a truly personal experience on the Daintree River then look no further. We went as a family with two boys aged 5 and 6 and we were all captivated for 2 hours. There is so much to see and Murray is so knowledgeable and approachable. I don't think we could have had a better experience - the... More

Excellent afternoon cruise. Murray is a great guide. Spotted Whistling Duck to start the afternoon was fantatsic and rest of trip continued well. Took time to have a close look at bird behaviour as well as ensuring we covered plenty of water. Poking up back creeks a highlight. Small boat makes for a good personal tour. On our tour just... Murray Hunt excels in showing you the birds in his part of the world, whether it is on the Daintree River or on the forest trails he frequents. The early morning Daintree River cruise starts out the day with the usual hidden suspects- cryptic frog mouths, herons, water dragons and if you're lucky a kingfisher and python or two. Then... More

We saw some fabulous birds, even rare black bitterns that excited Murray. For us from England even the more common gerygones and shining flycatchers and kingfishers were delightful plus a large preying mantis and water dragons, not to mention the Papuan fromouths...lovely boat trip and we only started at 7.00am. We were about 12 so did not get the swivel... More

Did the 2 hour dawn birdwatching cruise with 3 friends. Our guide was Murrey who was very friendly and helpful. The cruise was due to depart at 6am but actually departed at 6.30am. The boat was very basic, with rows of bench seats and no cover. No cover is good for birdwatching, but be prepared for rain, wind, sun and... More

Hi Fascinatingrhythm, Thanks for your review and I'm pleased that you had a good time out on the river despite the weather. There are two small points that I would like to make following your review. Firstly, I am able to provide cruises with two seating styles depending on the number of passengers. On days with less than seven passengers... More

Had a day out with the Daintree Boatman. It was a small vessel which enabled great access to narrow estuaries etc, and resulted in obviously a very personalised tour - there was only four of us in the very comfortable boat. The guide was absolutely committed to our indivual needs i.e. we had specific species that we wanted to see.... More

We made an evening cruise in august 2012 and found it a perfect final to a great day in Daintree National Park. Murray is an experienced birdwatcher and has a lot to tell about the wildlife at Daintree River. It was a perfect combination of beautiful scenery, birdwatching and also reptiles (two salties and a Green Tree Snake). The highlight... More

Murray knows his birds, not just where to find them, but also tons of information about them. We did the day-long trip, which he customized to fit what we wanted perfectly. We saw dozens of species of birds, visiting areas we never would have found on our own, and he made sure we got plenty of great photographs. The boat... More

We had on 9 August 2012 in the morning an excellent trip on the Daintree River with "the boatman". If you are looking for a personal experience (and not the 13 in a dozen trips that are offered by many others) than this is the trip to do. First of all we where asked what we would like to see...
