We enjoyed a stroll along the river front. It is worth doing if you're in the vicinity. We got to see the battleship from here. There are places to eat along the river front, which offer outdoor eating.

Where the ole' Cape Fear finishes her journey to the ocean is surrounded with everything a local or tourist would want. An area everyone needs to experience!
the river front so gorgeous and great restaurants along it are wonderful! beautiful site watching the ships travel thru and river front is wooden and pretty! great pictures,
Cape Fear river is gross and dirty. The only way to enjoy it is to take a cruise, or have your own boat. There is no inexpensive or quick way to enjoy it. I would recommend staying at the beach if you like water. Do not waste your vacation in this spot.
The river cruise lasted about 50 minutes and Captain Ed was full of good stories and knew a lot about the area. A beautiful, very bio-diverse river which passes through Wilmington. Great for canoeing, kayaking, fishing and sight-seeing tours. Wilmington's 1-mile river walk runs beside it in the heart of the city and offers accommodation, restaurants, shops and historic plagues, and of coures the mighty battleship/museum USS North Carolina is berthed on the west side across from the city.
Enjoyed a river walk while staying in Wilmington, it's nice, there are bars and restaurants to stop off it you feel peckish, it take approx 20mins. Some good sights along the way.
I love the walk along the Cape Fear River on the boardwalk. It has lots of restaurants, bars and shops and a beautiful view of the river. It's newly built in some areas and is just really nice. Well done Wilmington! :)
The cape Fear has been an important part of lower North Carolina for hundreds of years & the Port of Wilmington continues to be a strong commercial presence in the region. The River is home to the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial & home port of the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence. If you have time, take a spin on the...

There are many free parks along the river. My favorite is Snow's Cut Park, where you can relax, picnic & watch boats entering/leaving the river. River Road Park is also a good place for picnicing, kid's playground, & relaxing along the river. Fishing allowed at both locations but fishing license is required.
