See a multitude of Civil war artifacts from the Fort, see the short film that explains yet another pivotal scene in the landscape of the war that divided a Nation. Take a walk around the Old Fort on the well manicured path. Absolutely a great place and a learning experience.

Had a nice relaxing afternoon walk outdoors around what is left of the fort. There are some beautiful views of the ocean and the harbor that the fort guarded during the Civil War. The museum is full of information, but is small and kind of dark.

Stopped by after visiting the aquarium, and glad we did. I love history, especially battlefields. I grew up in Virginia. I never realized how important Fort Fisher was to the Civil War. After visiting the museum (make sure you watch the 10 minute documentary), we walked out the back door for a walk around parts of the fort. You can... More

This is a well preserved example of a earthen fort, basically a strip of man made dunes that housed ammunition in a bunked in the dunes and cannon placements on top of the dunes. If you are a Civil War Buff you must see this park. They have a few vending machines and rest rooms. When we were there they... More

I love history but the wife and kids, well not so much. But surprisingly they did enjoy the time there. Not very big and if your short on time you can get in and out in less that an hour. Great model of the fort with fiber opti lights and sound describing the battle and the fall of the fort.... More

Short tour, but this fort is located on a beautiful spot. There are some nice displays of civil war uniforms in the museum. Just right across from Kure Beach.

While there isn't much left of the earthworks of Fort Fisher, the museum is nice and includes a large, lighted tabletop display of the battle. There are some nice Civil War era artifacts and displays.

Had never heard of Fort Fisher, so this museum was a good introduction. Good 10-minute introductory film, a couple of nice maps with lights and recorded explanations, several cases of photos and artifacts, and an outdoor guided trail. Will take no more than an hour; worth it if you've got the time.

We visited yesterday but it was about to close, as I am interested in the Civil War I spoke to the guide ROY, he spent a lot of time with us and gave us some other information although the centre was closing, he suggested that we came back today which we did. Although it was raining and cold Roy spent... More
