We really enjoyed Loon mountain, and our entire weekend. great region, inexpensive hotels, a great place for a ride.
My daughter takes her after school ski program here. The instructors are good and the kids love the trails. We also ski here as a family and I have joined friends here when they are up from RI. Love going to Loon!
Like: Great family skiing, children's ski-school/club; ski runs to suit all skill levels; great specials on beer in the bars! Dislike: it's very expensive for a day's skiing. If you're going to be in the area for 2+ weeks get a season pass and ski like mad, t'll pay off!
Took a quick and relaxing gondola ride up to the top and enjoyed the views. It was a bit foggy while we were up so we didn't get to truly relish in the views to be had but what we saw was nice. Strolled around the glacial caves for a bit which was amusing although geared more towards children. Overall... More
This is a great place for the Highland Games, but most of the emphasis is on Highland Sales. There are so many places to purchase "stuff". The Games seem to be a unwanted child, there, but not well presented, and the schedule is not easy to locate. It is as if the thought is that people only attend to buy... More
We took the gondola to the top and enjoyed the views of fall color. There is an observation tower on top that allows great views. There is a cafe in top, also. The caves were closed when we were there so that was a dissapointment.
My niece was married at the top of Loon Mountain in August. The view was breathtaking and the pictures of the ceremony with the mountains in the background made for an unforgettable experience. Taking the gondola ride to the top added to this fun day. The reception at the base of the mountain in the lodge was a bride and... More
Our son married the love of his life on October 6, 2013 at the top of Loon Mountain. It was the most beautiful location, with the view of the surrounding mountains in breathtaking fall colors. We traveled down by gondola to the Octagon Lodge, which was transformed into a softly light, dreamy romantic room to celebrate the postnuptial festivities. Adam... More
We have visited here several times in the summer and fall. We don't ski. We found the suites very affordable and roomy for our multi-generational family. The gondola ride is great and we had fun seeing the caves and talking with the naturalist.
