If you have an hour, Lake Calhoun is a very relaxing lovely lake to stroll around. You can stop and get a bite to eat by the water or cut across to Yogurt Lab to get refreshed. Really nice.

I live about 20-25 minutes or so from this lake but its worth the time and gas to go down to this lake for any number of reasons. I usually walk the dog around this lake (its 3+ miles around) and my dog and I both love the walk and people watching. If the weather is anything over 40 degrees,...

We take a yearly trip to fish the city lakes and Calhoun has been the best year after year. It has a several different species that we fish for each year. You have to fight the over abundance of weeds but the results for both muskie and bass are worth the effort.
Especaill great for those who want to see the city. Find one of many 'rent-abike' kiosks around town. Follow directions to chain-of-lakes...closest lake is under 2 miles from DT. Mpls. Mostly flay route for biking. Most in-city lakes border stately neighborhoods and homes/mansions.
Take a short ride, or follow thae miles of well groomed, safe bike trails. Rst for a...

I've always lived in Minneapolis, but didn't frequent Lake Calhoun until I moved to Uptown, about 5 years ago. Since then, the lake has been a staple for me...laying on the beach, swimming, walking it's trail, biking, or just hanging out with friends. It's perfectly located, there are concessions and a restaurants, and adequate bathrooms. It's just simply the best...

Great place for a picnic, bbq, run, biking, sailing, swimming or just sun bathing. Always lots of people enjoying the warm weather.
A b it busier and just a little closer to the busy activities of Uptown in Minneapolis. I'm guessing a three mile walk around - and some areas for beach use. Some threat of theft from car so beware. Easy to just walk a bit to the east and eat at one of the many Uptown restaurants.
I love this lake because it's right on the busline and is easy to calculate miles walked around. Lots of different people but only come at certain times like around 9-11am. Otherwise it is CROWDED. 4th of July watching fireworks while swimming here is awesome.
This lake has it all in the summer, and good-luck maneuvering any of the paths, pedestrian or cycle. It is worth a visit just to people-watch. There are 3 beaches, a pavilion with food, beer and ice-cream, people do all kinds of water sports (including wind-surfing), and it is right outside of Uptown, so it is easy to spend a...
