Very nice campground located near lake Michigan. There is a small stream running thru the park that adds to the scenery. Nice trails. Stores are 5-10 miles if you need more groceries.
I moved to this area about 40 years ago and although my life circumstances took me to the Chicago area for 20 or so years, my heart was always in this area. Upon retiring, I moved back here and frequently visit the many beach areas finding peace and tranquility in just being there. Hoffmaster has got to be one of... More
I have been blessed to grow up near Hoffmaster. With all the nature trails, wildlife, different trees, and the dunes( for those that dont know, they are sand hills). There is also a nature center. Its quite an experience to be walking down a trail then you turn a bend and you see the Big Lake(as we call it)Lake Michigan!!
Hoffmaster State Park has a very nice public beach on Lake Michigan. The campground is also very nice. There's a beach in the campground that is separate from the public. The showers and bathrooms a well kept. We have stayed there many times and always enjoyed our stay. There is also a nature center and plenty of trails to hike... More
Hoffmaster is one of Michigan's best assets. The dunes, beautiful beach, white sugar sand just can't be beat. Also you can walk a good distance without crowds like you find at Grand Haven State Beach.

The swimming was great until you got out of the water and then they attacked. Just bad timing we guessed. After returning home and doing a little research we now know there is little we... More
Located on Lake Michigan about 60 miles south of Ludington state park. We've been to about 17 of the Michigan state campgrounds. This campground is probably in the top 5 IMHO. It's pretty well maintained, with clean bath facilities. Beach is very good, just a little bit of a walk. I would recommend this campground. Get reservations early as the... More
Big, beautiful beach! Warm yellow sand and cold blue water -- pretty typical for western Michigan. The tides can occasionally be strong, watch for flag signals about swimming conditions. There are dune paths and a great nature center. The facilities are very clean and very nice -- bathrooms, hot showers, etc. The path down to the beach is a big... More
