My partner and I took at tour out to the community of La Isla which included an incredible lunch made by a woman in the community and presentation by one of the staff members. We were so humbled by everyone we met associated with La Isla Foundation from their dedication to their enthusiasm to share their work. We definitely plan... More

What a great place this is. I have taken spanish classes here and I am proud to say my spanish has improved thanks to Professor Angel. He is, for lack of better words, "the man". He has been patient with me and taught me the important steps to learning the language. I can see from spending time in the office... More

I took two weeks of Spanish classes (with Teresita, I would highly recommend her) which I found both very good value and really helpful. A total of 40 hours improved my grammar, broadened my vocabulary and when I left León I felt a lot more confident talking. Some weeks later I got a nice compliment saying my teacher should get... There is no doubt in my mind that La Isla Foundation's "raison d'être" is among the noblest of human endeavors. And that is to exist solely to serve others. In this instance that service is a race against time trying to find a cause and possible solution or cure to the health problem plaguing a small Nicaraguan community. Young men,... More

I volunteered with the public health team at La Isla Foundation for two months and had an AMAZING experience. I got to teach classes to kids in the community, and they were so much fun! I also took a couple of Spanish lessons with a brilliant teacher, Angel, who taught me so much about Nicaraguan culture and history, and I... More

I stumbled upon La Isla Foundation when I was passing through Leon looking for a place to volunteer. Right away I got a good vibe from the people and the organization. As I learned more about the CKD epidemic and what La Isla was doing to address this problem, I felt more drawn to them. After traveling around Nicaragua I... More

I volunteered at la isla for two months and it was an amazingly rewarding experience. Working with kids in the community who loved you, practicing Spanish with everyone and anyone, listening to great live music, and dancing salsa all the time! La isla offered great tours and classes. I participated in spanish classes and salsa lessons- both are amazing. Learned... More

While I was in Nicaragua I participated in La Islas tour programs; I did not to the entire baseball tour but what I did was a lot of fun. I went to a baseball game and had a jersey made for the leons de leon. It was a really great experience to go to one of the most played sports... More
