This auditorium was upgraded some ten or fifteen years, ago. Every seat allows great viewing and perfect sound quality. The Portland Ballet Company and The Choral Arts Society just put on The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace. The choreography, by Nell Shipman, dancing, and music were superb. The audience could not stay in their seats at the end of... More

The Portland Symphony Orchestra;, conducted by Robert Moody, presented a masterful interpretation of an eclectic selection -- Elgar, Barbar & Hovhaness. Excellent acoustics; enthusiastic and knowledgeable audience; clean, spare design. My only disappointment was the lack of interaction with the audience - he conducted but didn't connect. Very disciplined orchestra and Martin Perry's performance of Barbar's Concerto (with a lovely... More

We been there to see Rock of ages. The place is very nice, they take the time to bring you to your place. The only thing i didn't like is the sound that wasn't loud enough but the rest was just perfect.

The auditorium is a great place for concerts and shows of all kinds. Prices of events are very reasonable.

The space is beautiful. I find the seats uncomfortable. And, when does someplace designed to fit so many people have enough bathrooms? Sometimes the pre or post concert events are poorly organized. The parking situation is like it is in the rest of Portland - generally inconvenient. When we saw a musical there in the second or third tier, it... More

We attended a performance of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" with the Joffrey Company. It was one of the best performances that my wife and I have attended. The Joffrey dancers were fantastic, as we had expected from their long history. We did not know the Merrill, but we became fast fans. The staff were helpful before, during, and after the... More

We have been to the Merrill for many events: grandson's HS graduation, Portland Symphony concerts, organ recitals, Willie Nelson performance, off-Broadway plays, etc. This beautifully restored auditorium in City Hall has great acoustics and seating. Right now all that is missing is the magnificent organ, which is out being repaired & restored. We especially like to sit in the Grand... More

Really not a bad seat in the house. Great sound in an intimate setting - I highly recommend visiting if you are on the fence.

We have attended three First night events and a drumming concert at Merrill. It is an attractive venue for many kinds of events. Feels the closest thing to being in Boston that I've encountered in Maine! And then there's the Portland Symphony - excellent, in an excellent venue!

Saw a concert yesterday at Merrill Auditorium , It is a lovely venue . I really think any seat is a good seat at Merrill . We were in the first balcony right above the stage , Great view of the performers , we had never been to Merrill but we would go back
