What a unique house!! Saw it on the trolley tour and then went back for a second look. Beautiful architecture!!
This privately owned, historic, two-storey, brick house and its wooden barn are located on Summer Street away from the coastline in Kennebunk. Its 11 soaring buttresses and intricate woodwork — as well as its creamy yellow paint and generous expanses of sugary white trim —make it resemble a well-decorated wedding cake. There is very limited parking on the roadside shoulders.... More
i was just driving by. didn't even know about this place. it stops you in your tracks; don't put your brakes on too fast, you will get hit from behind. The place is closed up, maybe just for the winter, i don't know. But I just had to stop and take photos; so did it safely and turned around and... More
Like much tourist information, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport are used interchangably. They are NOT one town - but two distinct governmental entities. Kennebunk is much more af a year-round community while Kennebunkport is a summer colony for the wealthy and a tourist destination (read - shopping). The Wedding Cake House is in Kennebunk. The original house had none of the gingerbread... More
Kennebunk has some of the most beautiful New-England type architecture. We all pile into the car and go drive around the area The Wedding Cake House really stands out.
Great house. A little disappointed. We wend on the tour and found the house to be cluttered and somewhat dirty. Destroyed my dream of what the house was like all of these years. :( Oh well. Glad I went as it benefited local food banks.

It is a private residence, so those complaining about clutter...this is someone's actual house that they currently live in. It is rarely open to the public, but happened to be so for a few weeks as a fundraiser... More
It was fun to tour. Its not open to often but I felt that we were treated to a special opening full of History, fun things to look at lots of Art and we were even allowed to sit down while the tour guide gave us a tour. Highly recommend this when its opened

On our recent trip to Kennebunkport we were thirlled to discover that the owner is allowing tours until October 15. This is to raise money for the local food pantry. It was great seeing the inside of this... More
