Had a great time here, I was writing a better review, then I hit the backspace button, and lost all that I had written. So frustrating. Ok so I outlined these 3 people that are awesome who work there - one of the 3 is a pair of people. So first the accordion and guitar players - awesome. Second the... More

We were told that we should not miss the cultural center but we almost did. We were the only ones there (a Friday morning) and it looked closed. However, I went up to the door and was greeted by a guide that was most helpful. This is a very nice institution and you can get a good appreciation for the... More

The place was very informative and provided a good movie about the Cajun history. It is a very good idea to visit this before visiting the next door Vermilionville so that you get an overview of the history. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is free too.

Excellent 30 minute film about the history of Cajun (Acadian) culture. Helps to put in perspective the family strength and tight culture.

We had not planned on going here but were early to Vermillionville so we went in to "kill" zoom time. We were very glad we did! Do not miss the video, it explained the Acadians history so well!

Lafayette/Acadiana is a very proud area. By starting your trip to the area here, you can watch a great movie about the Cajun history and have a better understanding of why this area is the way it is -- from the deportation to the influx of oil & gas to where we are today. When I have people visit me... More

We began our time here by watching the film that was very well done. Then we were able to really understand all the exhibits we viewed. We ended the visit by chatting with the great staff. A wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon.

If you want to understand the Acadian culture in this part of Louisiana, the Acadian Cultural Center is the place to begin. There is a good set of exhibits with explanatory panels, photos, and interesting artifacts. And there is a powerful as well as informative film to watch. One reviewer called it "rather depressing" and another "overly dramatic," but the... More
