I have visited caves from Carlsbad, NM to Mammoth Cave, KY and this cave surpassed all of them! At first, I was a bit surprised by the location which is in an old building in Horse Cave, KY but was very pleasantly surprised after walking through the door. They have superb displays that even include live cave shrimp, fish, and... More

Back in late August of '12 my wife, our little 4 month old daughter and I took a mini vacation down to the cave city area in Kentucky to do a little amateur caving since we did have a 4 month old baby. The first full day we spend there we went to Mammoth Cave National Park and did the... More

Had a wonderful time. The gentlemen who took us through the cave was very knowledgeable of the area and the cave and all of its inhabitants. Even got to see some of the eyeless craw fish. Will go again with the grandchildren.

We had visited Mammoth cave the day before and taken a scheduled 'into to caving' tour that took us off the path and into the caves. We tried Horse Cave the next day and really enjoyed the experience. It made me wish we had scheduled more time to stay and do the 'wild cave' experience with the guides at Horse... More

The American Cave Museum was full of great educational information on not only caves but the entire ecological system and how important caves are in our water systems. Hidden River Cave is of great interest due to the clean-up efforts that had to take place. the cave was closed for 50 years due to pollution in the water. The river... More

We took our four children on the 1 hour tour and had a great time. Hundreds of steps, lots of information, fun, easy walk. It can get kind of pricey if you have a large group but they were kind and helped by letting my elderly mother visit the museum for free while the rest of us went into the... More

Friendly people, very informative. Nice little gift shop but we didn't tour the cave. Shares a lot of history of the surrounding caves and area.

try caving in the off season! our family drove to KY for president's day weekend; since the caves maintain a steady temp (about 55') and tourism is low during winter, this weekend was the perfect opportunity for a private wild cave tour. some spaces are very tight, so ask about restrictions. water resistant boots, old clothes recommended. you'll need a... I am an undergraduate student who went to Hidden River cave for their 5 hour "wild cave tour". The experience was intense, but so rewarding. Crawling around in the caves, led by our intrepid guide Peggy, we got covered in peanut butter consistency mud. It was so enjoyable and challenging. It felt like problem solving with your body - trying... More

I have been to Kentucky numerous times and visited many caves and the 'Wild Cave Tour' at Hidden River Cave is the best experience in the State. Under the guidance of enthusiastic group leaders (I was lucky enough to have Gary lead us through the caves) you have the opportunity to walk, crawl, barrel roll, and slide your way through... More
