A buddy of mine and I took the general tour at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. We didn't take the more detailed tour due to time constraints, but still learned a great deal and had a really fun experience, topped off with three good shots of bourbon. A really good tour for free.

A marvelous park surrounds a scenic, historic distillery outside of Frankfort. I did the Hard Hat tour and was thrilled. You really get into the operational areas. The history of the distillery is very interesting, as are the buildings and grounds. Definitely worth the time.

The grounds are beautifully kept and reminiscent of a simpler time. I really enjoyed learning the history of the distillery and the bourbon industry itself. The tasting at the end of the tour wasn't bad either. ;-)

The Hard Hat tour is the way to go as you will see in the pictures. See stairs. I expected to see an old historic building but it was much older than I expected. The Hard Hat made if different from the other distilleries in seeing behind the scenes. And there was no charge.
