BTD was one of my favorite places to visit in KY and I don't even like to drink alcohol. The buildings and location are beautiful and all the tours are free with a free tasting at the end. We did the trace tour and the ghost tour and were so pleased with both. I highly recommend visiting if you're in... More

The bourbon balls at Buffalo Trace are truly the best candy ever made. My Mother owned a chocolate shoppe, she agreed. The distillery is a great place to visit. Everyone from the counter staff to people on the assembly lines were very friendly. They answered all of our questions, and asked questions about Florida. Highly recommend the visit. Try the... More

We did two tours here on a Thursday morning, the regular tour at 9am and the hard hat tour at 10:30. Both tour guides were very knowledgable, friendly and had plenty of energy to motivate the groups in the morning! The grounds are just beautiful and worth the drive that's a little bit out of the way. I highly recommend... More

A buddy of mine and I took the general tour at the Buffalo Trace Distillery. We didn't take the more detailed tour due to time constraints, but still learned a great deal and had a really fun experience, topped off with three good shots of bourbon. A really good tour for free.

A marvelous park surrounds a scenic, historic distillery outside of Frankfort. My tour guide Don was knowledgeable and friendly, the tour was fascinating and the three-whiskey tasting “experience” in the well-done and lovely visitor center was truly educational. The so-called “hard-hat tour” starts at 10.30 a.m. and still would have had availability however I couldn’t wait that long. I took... More

In Frankfort for the Derby weekend. This tour is about history. The oldest continuously operating distillery on the planet. (You will have to go there to understand how they got through the Prohibition Era.). The place is huge and impressive. Picked up the scent of the aging nectar when we stepped out of the car. If you are serious about... More

I did the Hard Hat tour and was thrilled. You really get into the operational areas. The history of the distillery is very interesting, as are the buildings and grounds. Definitely worth the time.

The grounds are beautifully kept and reminiscent of a simpler time. I really enjoyed learning the history of the distillery and the bourbon industry itself. The tasting at the end of the tour wasn't bad either. ;-)

The Hard Hat tour is the way to go as you will see in the pictures. See stairs. I expected to see an old historic building but it was much older than I expected. The Hard Hat made if different from the other distilleries in seeing behind the scenes. And there was no charge.

Set in a valley near the Kentucky River and in the path of where the Buffalo would roam. Just a lovely setting and somehow Buffalo Trace has been able to maintain a series of buildings in a fairly complex and yet supremely efficient operation. We were led by Jimmy and he was the right balance of knowledgable, funny & careful... More
