I've been to the Fort Hays State Historic Site several times, and am always impressed with the history. During my first visit, I was treated to a tour (not sure the cost), but the tour helped explain the different buildings and their purpose.

There wasn't much there to look at, but it didn't cost much either. The few buildings that are there are pretty neat, but if you don't expect much, you won't be let down.
