While it can be pretty, and you can see alligators, lizards, bugs and water birds as well as lovely plants and trees, it's a long meandering walk on a boardwalk to a fire tower. The potentially interesting center and animal info is closed to the public so unless you are a school kid... one brief visit and you've done all... More

But it may take more than one attempt to see if there are school children on a field trip: you are not allowed on site. It's a fairly long boardwalk offering views of a swamp and marsh. Wonderful place to see wetland birds, reptiles, and amphibians.

I had often been by the signs for this place but never stopped in. It was well worth the trip. If you can get in on a tour, then it is even better.

The center has a very beautiful wooden walk that ends at a 45 foot tower from which you can see a great view of the park. I would recommend a visit here since it is just outside Valdosta.

Perfect example of a large bay swamp. There is a deck and observation tower that takes you out into the swamp. We've seen ducks, water birds, alligators and snakes from the observation deck. Very educational for kids.

Long nature walk, high climbing tower for a neat view. The history was really neat to read about as we walked down the "board walk". Quiet place to visit. My daughter and I had the opportunity to hold a baby Alligator, that was Awesome. Alot of things to see. We topped off the adventure with a nice Pic Nic lunch.... More

Very nice management area with wildlife interpreters on hand to guie youth and adults through an adventure with nature. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Take your children.

My family goes to Grand Bay regularly. We take the trial to the tower and usually see LOTS of wildlife. There are usually alligators around, but don't worry. You will be safe on the boardwalk. This area is beautiful. Keep your eyes out for carnivorous pitcher plants! No fee is required.

Found this via a sign on route 125. Very glad we did. The boardwalk into the cypress swamp is a great way to learn about the history of this area. Educational signs line the boardwalk. The fire tower is a fun climb. If you stay put long enough you will probably get to see some aerial action coming into Moody... More
