Fort Desoto is a real jewel. Campsites are incredible, more than half directly on the water. The park is also a boater's paraidse. The boat ramp is bigger than I have ever seen. 10-12 boats could launch concurrently. North beach is great - but a long drive from the camping area. Trash cans are everywhere which makes it better than... More

We have been camping at this place for a while, it is great. For first time campers is the place to go, a lot of shade for the trees, fishing is open all day, rentals available. In one word is Wonderful.

Been going since I was a kid things have changed but still a cool place to go.. I will agree our five dollars should be used better but at least now I don't see foreigners taking every shellfish under the sun outta the waters.

A lovely park on the beautiful gulf! Loads of picnic tables in the shade, clean bathrooms and showers available, plenty of parking and only a $5 entrance fee. You can purchase food and snacks but pack a lunch, sunscreen and a swimsuit and explore!!! One negative, on the day of our visit, there was a LOT of trash in the... More

I've gone by boat and driven. Either way the beaches here are gorgeous and usually relatively quiet. I recommend packing up lunch and spending the day here. Also the dog beach is great, you don't have to worry about your dog running into traffic because there's so much room.

I read a lot of the reviews here where people rave on endlessly about Ft. DeSoto Park but after going back to see the park in 2012 I felt more than a little disappointed with how the park has fared since the 1960's when I first started visiting there as a boy. We used to wade out in the water... More

Best kept secret in Florida, my favorite beach worth the drive. It makes me feel like I am a thousand miles away. Great shells and beautiful white sand.

What a great place to visit. $5.00 gets you into the park and off you go. You can start by visiting the old fort on the property. Post buildings and a battery are available to visit. Kayaking and bicycling, birwatching and fishing are all activities you can take part in. Camping is also available. Near the Fort is a fishing... More

Fly 8 hours to Hawaii, or however many hours to Puerto Rico or just visit this beach in Florida and experience great sand, beautiful water and scenery. Make sure to shuffle your feet though if it is sting ray season...

RIght across the street from the Toronto Blue Jay's spring home away from home is Home Plate. It's newly reopened this season. It's a simply decorated, immaculately clean place. The menu is filled with mainstays like burgers, meatloaf, cubans, etc., but their best dish is breakfast . The homemade corned beef with poached eggs is fabulous, and today, my lobster... More
