Walking along the beach looking at the lighthouse brings such a peaceful feeling to me. If a person loves Sanibel and the lighthouse you should read Sanybel Light (spelling is corrent). So much to gain from this reading.

Beach on 2 sides, swim and fish in San Carlos Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. This beach has a fishing pier, but you can fish off the beach. Good shelling. Sand dollars everywhere. Ive never found so many sand dollars. Very short walk from parking lot.
This isn't like visiting most lighthouses, where you can climb inside and take a tour. It is simply a structure, set amidst a lovely beach setting. It's a nice place to spend a beach day with something interesting in the backdrop. We rode our bikes here and left soon after, as we hadn't planned to spend the beach day there.
If you are on Sanibel Island, this is a nice place to take a walk with the kids. Something to look at and a beach right there. Parking can be hell in season. Even in summer, it's packed. The thrill of getting closer to the lighthouse greatly increased every step of the way with the sun rising, birds flying, waves splashing, and the sand between my toes. I took many pics of different...

This area is so gorgeous for walking and a great place to bike ride to if you are staying on the island. The water is so crystal clear blue, it is like being in the carribbean. It is far less crowded during the week. On the weekend many residents crowd to the beach. Don't miss this site for the beauty....

I went here every morning to watch the sunrise and look for shorebirds. Ospreys and pileated wood peckers with great crested flycatchers, indigo buntings and many shorebirds. gorgeous beach!
Although you cannot actually go inside the lighthouse, there is a wonderful beach and some beautiful trees, flowers, and landscape all around it. A great place to enjoy the scenery!
i am a bit of a lighthouse nerdling, so i always try to stop by any lighthouses near where we travel on vacation. this one was within walking distance from our condo and i walked the grounds every morning before my wife woke up. i enjoyed the peaceful solitude and the beach access. not a bad start to every day!
