About Us: The Bird Gardens of Naples is a organization whose sole concern is parrot welfare in captivity and conservation of wild parrots. We are an outreach and placement program which places into safe custody, parrots which are abandoned, abused, or in need of a home for any reason. Parrots are intelligent, highly social and complex beings with a life span of up to 80 years. The individual bird's best interest and well being of the present flock will determine if a parrot is accepted into the organization. We actively support networking with other parrot welfare groups, animal welfare organizations, the veterinary community, conservation organizations and the general public. Education is of the utmost importance concerning the well being of a parrot and its ability to successfully live with its human companions. What to Expect:

- Heather BCape Coral, Florida38 contributionsBeautiful place to visitThis is great place to visit if you like birds. They have a lot of birds on the property that they take in and raise. You are allowed to feed some of the birds also if you like to bring some blueberries or nuts. They are very nice there and you can tell they care about what they are doing. It's free to go but they take donations which helps them with everything they do.Visited August 2022Travelled with familyWritten 6 June 2023
- cstageSyracuse, New York28 contributionsAmazing experienceFantastic experience. We did some research and found bringing almonds for the birds would be fun. We interacted with every bird we could. Some actually carried on a conversation! We were the last to leave. Highly recommend giving a donation online. The people that run this are amazing for saving these birds.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 January 2024
- Louis C16 contributionsCrowds have diminished the experienceThird visit for me. The last two, attendance was limited, and the host commented about various birds throughout the tour. Had some pet birds to interact with at the start, which was awesome. This visit, attendance seemed to be five times what it had been in the past, which made ongoing commentary to the group impossible. In the past, the smaller groups also were allowed inside a large cage with some of the birds. No longer an option. The birds are great, and feeding them blueberries and nuts is a fun experience, especially for kids. And a collection of pet birds was present, although my favorite bird had the day off. But it was better when attendance was limited. I understand they run on donations, and presume that explains allowing more people in at a time, but the visit has lost a personal touch as a result. Still worth a visit, but not as rewarding as in the past.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 March 2024

Such an amazing place! A must do for those who enjoy nature and the company of birds. Staff are all volunteers, very friendly and happy to answer questions. Strictly donation based. Don’t forget to wear bug spray and bring plenty of blueberries and unsalted almonds as treats. We will definitely visit again!

Our daughter-in-law made reservations and we had a nice time seeing and feeding the birds today. Bring bug spray for yourself; almonds, walnuts, and pecans for the birds.

This was amazing, so many birds, very vocal birds, all are excited to see you, many are free roamers, they will come and feed off your hands, my wife was very happy and me too, good place for couples or family outing, it is 2 hours, and it worth it, it is free but of course you are encouraged to donate, please do, bring with you unsalted raw almonds and bug spray

It was a lovely little out of the way bird sanctuary. You get to hold and interact with birds at first and then they have hundreds in cages you can feed. Bring almonds!

This off-the-beaten-path bird park is a dedicated sanctuary, staffed by volunteers, and operating via donations. Great place for kids and adults.

What’s the adoption fee, and also, do you have cockatiels and/conures :)

I was there recently. Yes there are cockatiels and conures, and from what the owner said, she does sometimes place birds with foster homes when she feels she has the right match. I would just call her and plan a weekend visit and connect personally.
I just heard on the news birds can get westnil virus from mosquitoes. Are there any plants or other protection for the birds?

The west Nile virus that has been detected in Florida is over 360 miles north east of us. There has been no recorded west Nile in south western Florida.

I am thinking of taking my mom but she cant walk long distances. I saw in the website it is a 2 mile trail in the tour.Is that right? can we abort if she feels she can't keep up?
Suebeep

Don't think it is two miles. Pace is leisurely, but ground is uneven and more of a dirt/ grass path thru all the cages of birds. Very informal and you can drop out any time , or guide will give you extra time. They are very accommodating.
What are your hours and are reservations necessary for the tour?

You have already got the message. I believe she tries to keep the tours to about 25 people. Deservingly it is getting more popular so make your reservation soon.

How long is the walk? Are there any benches to sit down and rest along the tour? Thanks.

How much does it cost

It's all done by donations, so there is no fee, but a generous donation will help keep it going!
