My wife and I went Popano Fishing at the state park last week 5/9/13. I was amazed how much of the beach was open with very little people using the park. For the locals this is one of the best little kept secrets. A great place to go spend some quality beach time without having to look for a space... More

Days of yore...this area is reminiscent of the days before big business exploited this area. Definitely worth coming to sit and enjoy the sugar sand and the emerald beaches.

There are multiple places to park to go to the beach in Destin, but they are not easy to find, and when you do, there are not many spaces and can fill up quickly. There is a cost to get into this park, but there are a lot more parking spaces, bathroom facilities, picnic tables, a small nature trail, campground,... More

There is plenty of beach front and the park provides an unobstructed view to the north. It is family friendly and a must see in Destin.

This is probably the nicest state park I have experienced. Perfect location in the middle of Destin but tucked away, quiet, very clean, and easy access to the panhandles white sands. The only thing keeping this park from pure perfection is the absence of full hook ups.

The Henderson beach state park charges $4 for Solo travellers and $5 for families and it is worth the price if you do not have beach access through your hotel. The emerald waters as always are a lovely sight to behold and I saw a few people having a go at it with their fishing nets. Unfortunately (due to no... More

Great place to sit on beach. Cost $6.00 but can come and go all day. Nice and clean restrooms and pavilions. Has a nature trail but we did not go on that. Beach was clean and wonderful.

Henderson is a beautiful white sand beach, with some hiking trails through the dunes. The hiking is mildly challenging - walking through sand is a workout! Nice facilities as well.

Very family friendly atmosphere compared to some stretches of beach near bars and high rises. The parking fee means you won't have a hard time finding a spot and it tends to be less crowded on the actual beach. Consider a state park season pass if you are local or come to Florida a lot. The Panhandle has a bunch... More
