A great museum with many significant pieces to view. We aimed at spending 2 hours there & ended up spending close to 3.5. A must see in Hartford. The gift shop is also a nice treat with fair prices.

I love the Hudson school paintings. They also have impressionist art. It is great. They have a good gift shop. Let me tell you something I am not really into art and I liked it. This has a great collection of American art. If you want art go here not the New Britain Museum of American Art. X rating 7.7...

I have been to the Wadsworth many times, and the main draw for me is the collection of Hudson River School landscape paintings. I never get tired of these works of art; they are amazing. This is truly a wonderful museum. We came for the Caravaggio exhibit but we saw most of the permanent collection, which focuses on local American art. Well curated and mercifully quiet. If you're in Hartford, don't miss it.
Currently hosting a Cavaggio exhibit. It is well prepared, the background on the pieces was more than adequate, there are plenty of tours to listen to...or piggyback in case you did not schedule your own.

Today's Carvaggio presentation by Susan Talbot was extremely interesting and informative. A great experience.
Not a large, Met-sized museum but with an interesting collection -- particularly recommend the Hudson River. Good contemporary art, also,
This is such a grogeous museum! I have been bringing my three boys here since they were quite young. I was surprised at how much they really enjoyed viewing the art- especially the gorgeous old paintings. See if your local library has discounted or free museum passes and then take the whole family. You won't be disappointed!
I liked the building itself and the woman who told us about the artist and showed us the paintings and those influenced by the artist (carravagio) was very patient and knowledgeable. enjoyed it immensely.
Not sure if that is the official name of the display but they host it each December. It is absolutely stunning to walk through and see all the decorated holiday trees. Each one is gorgeous and unique.
When we went there was a woman playing lovely flute music in the center of the room and it just added to the...
