A great tour of a real gold mine. Guide was an expert on the mine. 1000 feet strait down small car miners use, plus they give you a sample of real gold ore. A great leson in history!
While traveling to Cripple Creek to see the fall colors we came across the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine. Although the attraction is $18 per adult the tour was fabulous. Prior to the tour you don a jacket (really did not need it in September) and a miners hat. Kids will love this . Then packing into a metal cage. (if... More
Very informative tour and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and excited to share information! Would recommend for families with children or couples. Tip: Definitely make sure to bring a jacket, it is a little cold in the mine.
This was a fun stop on our trip, the GF was a little scared of the ride down, but once in the mine the tour was very educational and gives you a great respect for those that worked in the mines. Take the tour you wont be disappointed.
What a fun and educational tour! You go 1000 feet underground (we had no pressure problems) and walk along the mines as your guide tells you about (and demonstrates) all the tools used throughout the history of the mine. You even get a piece of gold ore! It was a lot of fun and was so interesting to learn about... More
I consider this one of the finest tours we have taken in some sixty years of traveling. The presentation was excellent and did an excellent job of covering the subject. The tour was not physically challenging (I'm in my 80's) and both my wife and I were able to enjoy the tour without tiring. If you want to find out... More
Enjoyed walking around the grounds. Many old mining equipment was interesting to see. Enjoyed the "flower" arrangements made of old drill bits. Felt the fee to go down in the old mine was too pricey.
It was very educational getting to go down into actual mining tunnels. The elevator ride down was itself an interesting experience because they cram 8 people into a tiny elevator and you drop down for about 2-3 minutes in a cage. The only reason I did not give this tour a rating of 5 was because the tour guide kind... More
I'll most remember getting down to the mine and coming back up. When you go, you'll understand. It was informative. I was more interested in Cripple Creek's history after that. Worth it.
Its really hard to reach this place. most cellphone networks wont have signals and gps on car does not recognize this place as an attraction! better take print out of a route map before you drive to this place. tour guide worked at this gold mine for 14 years before it was closed for mining, but opened for tourism. tickets...
