Nice and easy trail for beginner hikers with variety of evergreen trees, wildflowers, rocks, views of city and opportunity to see wildlife.

Where else can one find such a wonderful trail so close to a great city? One can do a short hike of an hour or a six hour hike from Eldorado north to Chautauqua. The hike is relatively easy once one reaches the Mesa trail (uphill to get there) with views of Boulder and the Flatirons above from many spots... More

Boulder cut down lots of mature and healthy pine trees in southeastern parcels, in order to "bring back" barren terrain that was a "more ecologically natural ecosystem" more than a 100 years ago before fire suppression efforts and back when the buffalo roamed the area. Well, hey do it right and set the entire front range ablaze morons - that... More

The Mesa Trail offers great hiking and beautiful vistas. You can select a variety of side trails off the main Mesa Trail.

I love this place accept the fact that they outlawed mt biking years ago. So many people try to stay healthy by mt biking that is is really a disservice to the public. That is sometimes what government does though.

Lovely walks, easily accessible from Boulder/Golden. Lengths from 1/2 mile to 7. Most trails well graded. But be aware that Boulder Parks charges parking fees in their lots for non-residents. And they ticket! Seems a little elitist to me as I am not aware of any other place in Colorado doing that.

I love the hikers walking past on their way up the trail. It is a beautiful walk in all seasons, and can be a short loop up the Mesa, or can be joined with the Bluebell and Chautauqua trails further up. Much improved dog waste management from years past. Most dog owners will pick up a bag at the start... More

It's mostly flat, but quite extensive. You won't get lost, and there is parking at various points. Get a trail map and get some exercise very close to Boulder in the foothills, not in the mountains.

This is one of many trails accessible in Boulder so you can get some exercise, see beautiful scenery, enjoy the great outdoors without having to drive up into the mountains (that is fun, too!).
