California has numerous missions but this one is the grand dame of them all. The self-guided tour was laid out very well and there were lots of documents, photos and other historical items that made the tour interesting.

The old mission is one of the main atractions in SB. Here you can learn about the california history and get some good information about the begining with the spanish culture and the development though the "wars" and the american arrival. Mission Santa Barbara is called "The Queen of Missions" for good reason. It's a really beautiful restored 1700's Catholic Mission. There's a self guided tour which includes the mission, chapel, the cemetery, the rose gardens and grounds. There's on site parking or you can take the trolley tour which stops briefly at the Mission. There's a good gift shop which...

It is the oldest church and monastery in the state and it is in very good condition the view from the front of the mission add to the historic feel of the mission.

Went on the Santa Barbara Trolly which includes a stop at this Mission. Loved the historical place, a beautiful large mission. Wonderful rose garden. Wish the bathrooms can be cleaner.
The mission grounds are beautiful. I could spend the entire day walking the cemetery in the back of the mission. The tomb stones read like a who's who of CA. Many of the street in Los Angeles are named after these frontiers of CA history. The mission will accomodate weddings. I was there for such an event. It was just...

We got there late but, saw the Mission when it was all lite up. It was very beautiful. The Rose garden is something I will never forget. And the armors that come from the flowers.
Definitely worth a visit. Lovely old buildings which have been updated sympathetically.Easy to get to & parking was plenty full. Fabulous views over Santa Barbra town & coast.

It was a cool, rainy day but still one of the nicest we spent on the trip. The volunteer staff at the mission were friendly and informative and the church itself gorgeous and filled...
