A great place to go. I grew up in San Jose and this was the place to go, The pool was a must, the grounds are great and wide open, The water was not great, But don't miss it if you are in the area. BUD CARTER

We used to spend many Saturday mornings taking the kids for a "dumb walk". But I think the variety of plants, trees, birds, and other animals made a pleasant day every time. We always see deer, and a hike to the top of eagle rock is good for the circulation. We've brought visitors from all over the world here just...

I grew up near this park, and used to go everyday when I was a kid. I volunteered at the YSI one Summer, and really think this is a special place. I remember some summers it would actually close down due to fire danger. It has a great park and picnic area, and think they charge to park on the...

The hiking trails were well maintained, adequate parking, reasonable entrance fee, clean restrooms, picnic areas, plenty of shade trees. Disliked: Unfriendly park staff, vistor center permanently closed, unique natural spring sites not protected.
You have serious hikes and nice walks both. The area along the creek is really beautiful. Lots of birds, too.
It's just a short hike to a panoramic view of the Bay Area! There is a lot of nature to see here. Alum Rock is a really beautiful place; I like it a lot. Easy hiking or mountain biking for families. It is free to visit, but there is a $6 fee to park your vehicle. Many people park outside...

We walked a lot of the trails here and thought it was beautiful. I'd like to learn more about the park to better understand it's historical importance, because I've heard some of the history and find it interesting. My daughter came here for a field trip and also enjoyed it. If you're fit enough to hike the trail that climbs...

I'm hesitant to let the world know about our local gem, Alum Rock Park as it is a special place that gets left with far too much trash from thoughtless visitors. With trails that now span across the eastern ridge, Alum Rock offers visitors a choice of picnicking, hiking, x/c running, mountain biking, bird watching, playing in the creek or...

Went hiking on some of the trails in the park and trails that started in the park and then went into the Open Space around the park. Really nice hiking trails. But beware, it's not open on Mondays!!
I've always enjoyed Alum Rock Park for its hiking/biking trails as well as its family picnic areas. It provides sufficient areas with shade and plenty of places to have a gathering. It's a lesser-known gem in the east foothills of San Jose
