The R wines have to be our top pick for the area, and arguably for California. Jeff's wines are our favorites like his sangiovese and petit sirah to his yummy pinot noir and , yes, even a tasty cab franc (like in sideways, I hate cab franc), but I really liked Jeff's version of it. For Barbera's we loved R... More

Great winery, but they only serve reds. All right, they do have a white, but it's a sweet muscat. They don't charge a fee for tasting. I usually only drink white wine, but Runquist's Pinot Noir is excellent - we purchased two bottles and will take them with us for drinking with our meal at a fine restaurant. Dennis was... More

I am a wine buyer and found Jeff and Margie by spending a day in Plymouth with a friend. She told me that this area was little known and I should try it. Well that was a very wise move and tasted the wines up and down the roads. Then the last one was Runquist and he was just about... More

We always enjoy our tastings at R and never know what to expect!. Jeff's wines are unique and smooth. He uses varietals that you don't often see. The servers are always friendly and helpful, despite the crowds. This is one winery we take new friends to.

We've been club members for several years and haven't found a wine we don't love!! Great location between FairPlay and Plymouth in California Gold Country.

The Jeff Runquist Winery (home of R Wines) in Plymouth, CA. has one thing the other American wineries don't have: Jeff Runquist, the best vintner in the country. We had a delightful visit with Margie Runquist and their wonderfully friendly staff, and sampled some of the finest, well-crafted wines available in America today. Delicious samples of bread and cheese were... More

This is one of our favorite wineries- anywhere! All of the wines are really good. It is a small family owned winery and the quality is as good if not better than Napa- and much more affordable and friendly and personable. Free tastings come with delicious bread and cheese which makes for an enjoyable experience. They do a great job.

The tasting room was packed with happy people, a good sign to anyone stopping by. Our second experience here this year was a consistent message of well-crafted wines from a winemaker that doesn't farm. He just makes good wine. His '1448' isn't available for tasting because it's too inexpensive. But don't be deceived. Anything this wine maker blends is worth... More

We enjoyed the tasting a Jeff Rundquist Wines. They offer a wide variety of varietals. None are grown on the premises, but the wine maker seems to have a good hand. We particularly liked the 2010 Petite Sirah. They also have an excellent vineyard dog, worth the visit even if the wines weren't so good.

Any that would call this wine maker average just must have different taste buds. Jeff Runquist makes incredible wines. I missed his release of 2010 Petite Sirah and he's out. UGH! This is the second time in 6 years this has happened because I didn't get there in time. You would think I'd learn. His other wines are excellent and... More
