My sister, husband and I did this tour the day we were leaving Murphys. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. It was very informative and entertaining at the same time. I would recommend doing this to anyone in the area, unless you are claustrophobic. The caves are beautiful and the history of how they were discovered by Mr. Mercer is amazing.

We did the tour with my parents (both 72 years old) and my teenage son who has autism. I felt like time had stood still here since I was here as a child 40 years ago. A classic attraction. Perky guide, beautiful formations in the cave. Steep narrow stairs would challenge some travelers.

I have now been to all 4 of the major caverns of the Sierras in Northern California - Moaning, Mercer, California, and Black Chasm. Mercer Caverns is the most interesting with the most beautiful intact formations.

If you want to take in a breathtaking site or two Mercer Caverns was exceptional! It was a very interesting trip, the rocks are in your face you can actually touch them (most caverns dont let you) I had a great time!

You have to go been many times any time of year. Amazing what is under the ground. Good for the whole family.

The tour is about 45 minutes long. It was a great tour and the staff was knowledgable and very friendly. A bit pricey, but it was a great experience.
