We just spent the afternoon on this beach and we loved it! The sand is soft and clean the water temp is perfect and we had a lot of fun in the waves. The view is beautiful and people really friendly. For a friday afternoon it was not crowded at all! We will definatelly be back!!

A little exercise to a pretty beach. 200 plus steps which helps make this a quiet spot. Best when tide is low.

This is my favorite beach to go to. It's quite a chore getting down there, and so much worse getting up! But so beautiful! It's also a great place to work out! Run up and down the stairs a couple of times and you won't need to work out for the rest of the week!

There are only about 225 steps. The beach itself is probably only 1,000 steps side to side. Nice cave at the south end.

We enjoyed walking down the steps and exploring the beach. The walk back up was a little more taxing, but the whole experience was fun.

A real hidden gem down the 200 odd steps. Was there mid-summer and it wasn't even that busy. defo one of the best beaches i've been to, and spent most of the day there. Would love one of the houses on the hill that have the elevator onto the beach.

I visit this beach every Friday afternoon for a workout and an incredible cool down along the beach. There are 218 concrete steps that I run up and down 10 times, then enjoy an incredible view as I walk along the beach up and back. On warm and sunny days, the beach will get crowded, especially between May thru September....

its like finding secret paradise! We went very early ( 7am cali time) and there were people using the steps to work out, the beach was empty and just absolutely beautiful

Okay, I counted exactly 224 steps going down to the beach from the 9th Street and Pacific Coast Highway entrance. While it is steep coming back up, you can take frequent rests on the numerous landings along the way. There are people who do their stairmaster workouts there. The beach itself is fantastic. 1,000 Steps is the place for the ultimate glute workout. You can always forego that if you're just looking for a quiet beach with mostly skim boarders.
