Has a lot of local history - especially of agriculture in the valley and the date industry. Does a good job of telling local history at a site that is very historical in and of itself.

This museum is a MUST SEE for anyone that is interested in the Coachella valley. It gives you all of the history of Indio and the insight into why Indio is listed on the interstate signs. The museum is also attached to the new Date Museum which is also fantastic. Dates are famous here in the Palm Springs/Coachella area and...

I enjoyed the guided tour and the house is well preserved. There is a schoolhouse and a date museum and lots of farm equipment on display. I think the area has a very interesting history, a very resilient people settled here.
Go here every year on field trips with my elementary students. They enjoy the old.schoolhouse and the kitchen. We also have a picnic in the grass area.
Our high school reunions used to start here -- and I have great affection for going to this location and appreciate that it's still being kept up -- hopefully for a long time. Lovely -- and the basement with old Japanese family portraits good and historic.

Pioneers in the desert? Who would have thought that we could find it all here. In an unexpectedly beautiful setting, here is the history of everyone from native Americans to early date farmers in the desert....and even a desert submarine. Don't miss it.
The museum is housed in an old home/dental office. You can see details of the home construction and lots of "old time" tools and gadgets. For some it will be a history lesson for others a reminder of an earlier time. THere is also a schoolhouse with a work bell and water pump. You can breeze through or really spend...
