We learned of this place on Mysteries at the Museum and were so happy we did. The Donner Party cooking pot that was featured on television is the least of the wonders for us here. As other reviews mention, the staff is friendly and knowledgable. Our excitement was matched by the docent as she related stories of local color, responded... More

My husband and I visited the Sharpsteen Museum and were greeted with a big smile from a woman who had a clear passion and a vast amount of interesting knowledge about Calistoga and the museum's founders . We felt welcomed as we entered and she made our visit pleasant and informative . Some museum's are stuffy but not this one.... More

Tastefully decorated little museum with friendly staff. Nice quirky exhibits with great narratives about the history of Calistoga. The main Sharpsteen guy worked for Disney before retiring in Calistoga where he left his mark. Souvenir counter sells the cutest tiny dolls for an incredibly affordable price. Check them out! We ended up buying 5 of them!

I loved learning about the history of th ten in such a visual way. Loved the room dedicated to the donor of the museum and his career with Disney. The Huichol art as a special exhibit was superb. The suggested donation of $3 as your entry fee was more than worth it.

The Sharpsteen museum is a real window on the Calistoga of the 19th and early twentieth century. There's nothing else like it in the Napa valley

We stopped in on a very rainy day based upon the positive reviews here. We were glad we did. The docent was local (as others mentioned) and friendly; he was talkative at first perhaps to get us started with some basic knowledge, but then left us to study the exhibits and read the signs. Even as introverts we did not... More

Very friendly & helpful docents that provided interesting info in addition to the history of the area the museum exhibits provided. Enjoyed the displays and learning more about a very charming town!

We came across this museum while wandering around Calistoga one day. It is very well done. It's a combination of a history of Ben Sharpsteen's work as an animator, producer, and director for Disney and a history of Calistoga and the northern Napa Valley. It includes a restored resort cabin furnished in period 1860 furniture. Defininitely worth a visit.

Gorgeously appointed museum, immaculately kept, generous inventory and comprehensive historical information. The women who volunteer there were friendly and accommodating. I was inspired to join.
