It is aways an amazing experience to visit LHS. I took my daughter and 5 of our Grand-children and it was a delightful day for all. The indoor exhibits, hands on activities and the outdoor exhibits are all a wonder to behold or participate in.. The Planetarium was the highlight of the visit and not to be missed! I took... More

Visited here on a weekday in April after having high hopes looking at their Web site. Was looking forward to the 3-D movie and mini-planetarium among other things. The 3-D movie was only shown once (mid-morning, before we got there). The audio in the mini-planetarium was non-functional. Many (maybe even "most") of the exhibits and displays were broken. The earthquake... More

I think the key to enjoying this place is managing expectations. I knew nothing about it in advance and was quite impressed during an impromptu visit. Although most of the exhibits are geared towards small children, our two 12 year old girls had a blast! I especially appreciated the Ingenuity Lab, staffed by UC Berkeley students, that presents a different... More

First off, this place is a bargain. The amount of staff and displays overshadow those of most children't museums for a fraction of the cost. There are so many hands-on experiences (from petting animals to building wind machines) for all ages (I had my 2, 6, and 9yo boys with me) and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and willing to... The Museum presents & explains various scientific phenomena, allowing the kids to experience and play their way to better understanding, while using their "curiosity muscles", enjoying every minute. Has a cinema projecting 3D movies: make sure you sit far back, as can get nautious if sitting too close...

Engaging and education activities that keep the children and adults occupied for the whole day. On a good day, the view of the bay from the garden is awesome, ranging from the bridges to the city! I like how the exhibits are interactive and the volunteers are passionated abt explaining the projects to the children

This interactive science museum (at least, interactive if you are a pre-teenager) is not in the class of, say, the Exploratorium in San Francisco, but is still greatly worth a stop, and the view of the Bay from its plaza is worth the trip in itself. If you were there a few decades ago, you should know that the Hall... More

Fun museum for children who really want to get involved with hands on activities. But from an adult perspective the VIEW is amazing from the grounds of the museum. On a clear day, you can see all of the Bay Area and with the help of a location guide map you can discern all important landmarks. If it's a clear... More
