Walking on Dias' ship makes one really appreciate his extraordinary achievements. Easy secure parking and a good bay view restaurant half a block away.

My husband and I spent a couple of hours at the Diaz Museum, including viewing the Post Box Tree and Maritime Museum. All extremely interesting, especially if you love history. For an additional fee, you can even enter a replica of the Portuguese Caravel ship that Diaz sailed to Mossel Bay on, in 1488. Mossel Bay is steeped in history,... More

I'm a history teacher, so I'm probably not very neutral when coming to evaluate such a museum. But the quality of the exhibit is very high. Imagine, you can walk on a replica of the boat use in 1488 to get to the south of Africa. This boat is huge in the museum, but so tiny to imagine on the... More

It was interesting going onto the ship and seeing how people survived in very small spaces all those years ago and having very basic facilities. It was awesome.

My adult daughter daughter and I spent the Easter weekend in Mossel Bay weather wise, it was not too pleasant ..more rain than sunshine ): having said that, it did not deter our schedule planned itinerary that we set out to do and achieve..*_* Many place to dine out which we did on the rainy days and covered the interesting... The complex is fairly basic with some interesting information in the form of posters on the walls, but a lot of the items on display do not have a description and a lot of the content hasn't been updated in decades. The replica of Dias' ship is very cool though and you can climb onto it. I'd say for R40... More

Love the fact that you can climb onto the replica and explore the whole ship!! We learned about Bartolomeu Dias at school and had loads of fun exploring the ship and reading about all the first explorations around the tip of Africa. It was very interesting and made the history a bit more real in my mind. Here you can... More

It is interesting to see the ship and all the nautical charts . We would have liked to buy a book about the discoveries of the area or Dias but the shop has no books
