The setting of this gorgeous old house is inspiring with the rhododendren running up the mountain behind it. On the road up, we had to stop at the first glimpse just to take some photos. The grounds are nicely kept. Enjoyed shopping at the shop and then enjoyed a nice lunch in the cafeteria. Everytime i'd look at the house... More

More interesting from the perspective of reminding us of the way of life of the industrial barons of the 19th century - but from an older historical point of view its all smoke and mirrors. The garden has the biggest potential to be interesting, but in January there wasn't much going on. Big shop and restaurant complex - had a... More

This is one of the most beautiful places on earth on a sunny day, even when it's a miserable day its nice but to really appreciate the scenery go on a nice day! It's a little expensive to get into and the cafe is expensive to eat in that would be the only negative! More

I visited the abbey shortly after the Christmas time on a day trip. There are 4 main attractions; Kylemore abbey the building itself, the walled garden, gothic style church and the mausoleum. There are also souvenir shop and a cafeteria. Because it was a winter time, there were not much to see at the Walled garden however I enjoyed visiting... More

The house and gardens are beautiful. It is something you should not miss if you are near Galway. The restaurant run by the Benedictine nuns has very good food. Although, if you have limited time at Kylemore Abby, don't take the time to eat because you would miss either the gardens or the house. The gardens were beautiful even though... More

We were in no hurry so we drove out to the Abbey while staying at Ashford Castle. It's a great drive and the Abbey is stunning. They have a cafe so you can break for lunch or tea. What is not worth doing (unless you just would like to make a contribution) is paying to go inside. There is literally... More

The Abbey and setting is beautiful, and the walled garden is lovely, but the place is dominated by a very touristy retail outlet and cafe, which is packed to the gills with tour-bus tourists. More

At one time, set on 13,000 acres, Kylemore Castle (now the Abbey) must have been heaven on earth. Beautiful setting on a lake with the most magnificent Victorian Gardens today, much less realizing that they are original to the home. If you make a trip around Connemara for the sites, you will not be disappointed to also take in Kylemore.... More

Even in November the Walled Garden was colourful and magnificent, the tea room excellent and the abbey itself most interesting. The restored chapel is a gem and the location of the whole complex is absolutely splendid. A must if one is visiting the area More
