This was the highlight of our trip to Tilcara. We went on several treks and they were all fantastic. Juan, our guide is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area and about the animals. Our kids and my husband and I really enjoyed having our own llamas to walk with. And what a treat it was for Juan to... More

This was one of the best travel experiences for me due to a great package: The beautiful natural setting around Tilcara, the wonderful company of the llamas who were even more endearing than I had imagined (and no, they do not spit!), the yummy picnic in the middle and of course, the expert guidance of Santos. This felt like so... More

I was on the same walk as lucsky. I still think of the llama, Puka, as my friend. The views were stunning - I felt much more connected to the area after hiking through it as opposed to just driving through it. The llamas and Santos, guide/owner, added another level to the feeling of being connected to the area. When... More

Our guide Santos took us on a discovery walk on the plateau above Tilcara. Each participant is given a Llama for the day who is to become your friend by the end of the journey. The Llama will carry your day pack plus water and provisions for lunch including some Torontes wine (included in the tour price) . The day... More

Firstly, check your fitness level. Mine was not that great and having started the trek up the mountain, I had to give up due to lack of oxygen and being old!!! However, Santos guided myself, my beautiful llama Pako and my friends (with their accompanying llamas) to an easier route. It was AMAZING. The llamas are gorgeous and very obliging.... More

we did the salinas grandes visit with Santiago and Rufina. The guides were wonderful and friendly and the llamas all had their own personalities , they were totally charming.

Had the most beautiful day walking in the mountains with Juan and his llamas. We had been on many tours into the Andes but nothing beats walking into the mountains with a couple of llamas. Juan was such a lovely man who clearly adored both his animals and the landscape and his enthusiasm was infectious. This trip was such a... More

What an incredible experience!! A beautiful hike, with an adorable llama carrying your things, we reached the top of the ridge and had a superb picnic, enjoying the amazing scenery and the pleasant company of our knowledgeable guides. Our children, ages 16, 13 and 9 all Loved it! and wanted to take home a Llama!!

With our two 11 year olds we spent an enjoyable day with Santos and his llamas. We met at the llama coral in Tilcara at 10:00 were each assigned our own llama for the day. With our packs and lunch loaded onto the animals, we climbed from the village passing above the pucará and climbed slowly up the side of... More
