We stopped off here for a 3 hour trip and strolled the grounds ourselves. They have tours here, but didn't feel we needed one. I will note, they do not have tours of the actual cellars, so if that's your thing, try one of the other 45+ wineries in the area. The best part of our trip was that they... More

Spier really know how to pander to visitors...the grounds are lovely, the tasting room is big, spacious and airey, and the selection of wine on display makes you salivate!! The waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. The choice of wines for the wine tasting was varied and were very nice indeed. Nice touches included the small, but varied selection of... More

The gardens are probably very stunning in the right time of the year but most of it was fairly autumnal at this visit. However, it was still very pretty and the walk along the river was very pleasant. We were here primarily for the wine tasting experience which was very efficient. The wine waitress was extremely knowledgeable about all the... More

We stopped here for a light lunch, sat under the trees, warm sunny day, with a glass of wine and partook of the salad buffet which was just what we wanted. the salads were fresh, the scenery relaxing and romantic, with dams and babbling rivers to sit by and contemplate the world. The day we were there it was quiet, and... More

We visited spier for the day during our trip to SA. We have to rave about the Segway tour, which was a fantastic way to see the vines and take in the views, as well as being fantastic fun! Spier have done a great job of making an attraction out of the vineyard with plenty to do!

This winery is totally geared towards tourism and makes good wine at all quality levels. We bought a Picnic lunch of cheese, olives, bread, pate at their gourmet store. We ate on the vine-covered terrace while we waited for our guided tour of the vineyard on Segways. The segway riding was easy to learn after a quick lesson and soon... More

You're in the winelands; you've been having those wonderful food and wine experiences but you want something simple in between. Eight restaurant at Spier is just the thing: fresh local produce simply but deliciously prepared; great wine to accompany it all; lovely surroundings -- try biking to it. Don't miss out just because his place caters to big crowds --... More
