Still undergoing restoration. The adjacent constitutional court is far more interesting than the fort

Offers both an in depth view of the former oppresive old South Africa (Tour of the old Prison Fourt where famous activits were held prisoners) and a refreshing outlook on the future with the new Constitution court building, which I personaly think is beautiful. The location of the site offers a good view of the city and the inner suburbs.

I enjoyed the Fort and have taken the childred there often. It is slightly different to the Cape Town Fort, but still enjoyable.

My tour of the Jhb Fort was awe inspiring, however it is sad that not many people know of the Fort. Living in Jhb my entire life, I was only exposed to the fort ona team building exercise. The photographic and quote displays are deep and poignant, portraying the feelings and emotions of the Fort and the actions that took... More

A tour of the prison including details of Ghandi's incarcerationand live in South Africa is an essential part of a visit to this area of the city. Visualise at first hand what it was like to be imprisoned there, then visit the new Constitutional Courts.
