Love nature? I do too and it hardly gets better than right here. You can feel the mist from the waterfall once you get there and its a nice easy walk.
We liked the walk to this waterfall as well. At the end of the trail it goes out onto a peninsula and the waterfall is right there. If the wind blows the right direction you will get wet from the falls. You also get a close view of the glacier, but most of it is hidden behind the rocks. The... More
Nugget falls is an awe inspiring and picture perfect addition tot he wonderful Mendenhall glacier. If you have the time is is about a mile hike to the falls and really worth it and the effort. The photo opportunities are endless and you might even sneak under the softer portions of the falls. Be careful as the power of the... More
You will never get closer to a waterfall than this....at least in my point of view! It's breathtaking...words cannot describe the beauty of this waterfall. In the process of walking to it you will probably see bald eagles...we did. Don't miss it!
The 20 min. walk to see the falls is well worth it. I've seen lots of falls but this was really nice to see the falls and also the glacier. We saw bear tracks there too but didn't see any bears. Was a rainy day but still worth the walk.
You can walk the trail or take the beach route- we did both- we saw nesting Turns on the way and Bald Eagles. The falls are awesome and an easy walk from the visitors center. Lots of great pictures and videos. This is a must see!!!
You get to see the Nugget Falls as you walk towards the Mendenhall Glaciers. It is quite a sight to see as you approach the falls. the falls with the glacier as the backdrop. Awesome!
Approx 20 mns walk from visitor Ctr. Seen nicer fall already, but a nice stroll and the water is strong and it has its own charm.
It's only a few minutes walk on a good tarmac path through the forest from the Mendenhall Visitor's Center and well worth it. As well as seeing the glacier, you can walk to the foot of this lovely waterfall. We also saw porcupines in the trees as we strolled to the falls. The falls are much bigger than you think.... More
