Very much enjoyed. Beautiful exhibits. Two adults spent about 1 hour in the building and about 3 hours in the trails/beach. Particularly enjoyed their chalkboard upon which all birds that have been identified in Homer Spit and the marsh just out the backdoor. From the building, can access nice, flat boardwalk and trails down to the beach with some interpretative... More

We were very pleased with the quality of the center. Most visitors centers don't have the beautiful displays that this one did. It was more like a local museum - and free!

It was free to us. Go there. It is worth it. Nice exhibits and nice films. It does not take long to see everything as it is a small museum. Go esp. if you want to learn more about the geography of the Kenai peninsula and origin of fish and local birds.

The Islands and Oceans Visitor Center also serves as the headquarters for the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, and the Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The Maritime Refuge encompasses a vast region of islands, including the remote Aleutian Islands -- and the Visitor Center provides a realistic glimpse of the abundant wildlife and rugged... More

Not to mention FREE! This is a great place to start your Homer experience. Walk through the displays at the end of which you can enter upon a beach walk - right out the back door!

A great way to spend some time learning about the region. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and willing to help out. The nature trail is a must-take trip. You can get real close to the wildlife on the trail. Just got to see an owl up close this afternoon.

Very limited on the exhibitions. Once you have seen it there's no reason to return unless you have a visitor you are showing around. Needs more wildlife viewing such as the Seward Marine Center- which by the way could have been one of Homer's major attractions. This is a great place to park and eat a hamburger.

Be sure to stop in ... I think it's free. There is a lot to be learned about the local area and the Alaska Maritime Refuge. It is done very well. The price is right!
