We took a cruise on the Huangpu River from the Bund, it was a daytime cruise, I have heard night time is better, but you can still see the magnificence of the river at night on foot. Our cruise was quite good you see both modern on one side and colonial over at the Bund. The river itself is a... More

Various boats leave from the Bund (Zhongshan Road) and have different routes, but ours went to Huangpu Bridge before turning and sailing north, up towards wusongkou. We paid 100RMB/head, plus 20RMB once on board, which gave us access to the 'VIP' area at the front of the boat, the only real benefits being a free bottle of water and fewer... More

went on the river night cruise, the views were stunning. One side of the river is the futuristic buildings and on the other the old colonial buildings. The original HSBC bank building is lovely at night when lit up as well as the communications/hotel building, looks like a space ship all pink lights on it.

I'll start by saying that the evening we went was cold and sprinkling but even with that we were disappointed. It was packed, standing room only, extra RMB for an actual seat. No guide. The indoor space was stuffy and crowded so we stayed out on the limited deck space. A nice night would improve the view but not the... More

I would recommend taking the Huangpu River tour on a clear evening. It is a nice relaxing way to see the city lights at night. The buildings are beautifully lit up. There is no commentary, but you can take photos and enjoy. The one hour tour is long enough and costs Y100.

We went on a night boat cruise on the river and the lights of the city sparkled all around. It was a lovely way to see the city. There is no tour guide or talking about what you are seeing but it is nice just to gaze out at the shoreline and go u see the span bridges and take... More

The Huangpu River tour is a must. There are a number of large passenger boats that line The Bund and take you on a trip along the river front and back. This was a beautiful evening trip, great for photos of the colourfully illuminated buildings. The ticket included a snack. The trip was for about 90 minutes. Great value.

Do take the cruise on Huangpu River when you are there and have the time. We took one and although it was only 50 minutes, it was good cos we get to take in all the beautiful sights.

This voluminous rivers cuts Shanghai in two parts – River (Pu) and Puxi & Pudong (East(xi) & West(dong). If you take a look at both sides you can see the best of Shanghai at its peak in past and present. East is the colonial glory of European invasion. The architecture is beautiful and captivating. The evening lightening is perfect and you... More
