Definitely a must if you go to Rio, when you get to Sugar Loaf, take your time, because after you return to Urca Hill, they don't let you rise again ( that is ridiculous)

I am from Rio and I recently took some american friends there. They all enjoyed the visit. You do not need a guide and I strongly recommend that you hike up to Morro da Urca (the lower mountain). It might be a bit steep but it is certainly fun. The trail starts at "Pista Claudio Coutinho". The view from the...

A must see in Rio. Beautiful views towards Copscabana, Corcovado, Botafogo and Guanabara bay. The queue during the weekend is huge, not so on a weekday. After the Sugar Loaf be sure to walk around the Urca district towards the beach
Cable car journey to the top is really something and when at the top the views are amazing. We were very surprised at the wild life that we saw at the top.
Must see attraction in Rio. Took the cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf and the sights were breath taking! Lines can be long, but if paying by debit card, they take payment and you skip the line!
I have not gone to the top of Sugar Loaf in over 10 years. I was hosting an American friend in Rio de Janeiro for the very first time and we decided to face the line on a Saturday early afternoon to go there. It continues to be outrageously beautiful. The experience is great, despite of the wait. Everything is...

Views were fantastic but trying to catch a taxi after was difficult since there was none. When we finally got a taxi it would not take us to our restaurant of choice we had to go to his choice. Seemed a little sketchy. Recommend the view but maybe not at night unless you have prearranged return transportation.
If you want to have a good idea of what Rio looks like, you got to climb the Sugar Loaf. When the weather is good, the view is simply outstanding.
We went to see Sugar Loaf Mountain as part of the 'One day in Rio' excursion from our hotel which cost R$220 but included picking us up and dropping us off at our hotel and a drive round the city to the modern cathedral, driving by the Maracana stadium, Corcavado, and stopping for lunch in an 'all you can fit...

I visited on a weekend around 4.30 in the afternoon, queued for over an hour and ended up going up in the dark. Still extremely amazing views but if you want to see sunset from the top then probably get there a bit earlier. Good toilet and snack facilities at the first level.
