I really did not like the place very much. In the only cafeteria available there is no coffee at all, the mangrove in some places were strewn with garbage (the ubiquitous PVC bottles), the price for the different attractions inside were not clearly shown and maybe because it was a sunday, there were crowds around. The garças itself, well...

When I was in Mangal place was abandoned, and with very strange people around, I felt unsafe, not to mention that is isolated and access more complicated than other points. I advise against that.

The bird aviary was quite spacious, and got to see many species up close and personal (guans, curassows, cowbirds, jabiru, whistling ducks and of course scarlet ibis) that are tough in the wild. The tower has a great view of Belem.

It is a vast space created by Para government for tourism. Have a butterflies zoo, the Manjar das Garcas Restaurant, many regional species of birds, turtles, small animals, and museum of boats under the Restaurant. You can burn the calories from your lunch walking around this space.

Wasted hectares have been turned into a fine zoological garden. Walking around is free, but you have to pay a small fee to visit the birds, butterflies (disappointingly few) and the impressive farol (lighthouse). And make sure to check out the flock of Scarlet Ibis on the island in the middle of the lake, as well as the fine static... More

Hundreds of white herons (egrets?), plus other herons, scarlet ibis, ducks..... Nice landscaping, a walkway out over a tide marsh, tower view. (And probably the cleanest public space in Belem.)

The park was created on the banks of the river, preserving the vegetation. It is a natural refuge for many birds and other amazon species, which one can see freely wandering in the park. There are also a butterfly and bird nursery as well an observation deck, from where one gets superb view of the city. A nice restaurant located... More

One of the most incredible parks in Brazil, where you can see the "guarás", red birds that live only close to this city. The Guamá River view is amazing and you really feel like you're in the middle of the Amazon Forest.

Good value. It takes about an hour to go up the tower, walk out on the pontoon. Do the butterflies. they are great and it's only R3 to get in.
